What to Expect

In today’s rapidly evolving data landscape, ensuring that scientific data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable (FAIR) is imperative for driving AI innovation. As organisations strive to leverage data for AI applications, making it FAIR is crucial for unlocking its full potential.

This event will feature four distinguished speakers, each presenting their unique perspectives on the implementation of FAIR principles, the challenges anticipated, and the benefits these implementations bring to AI applications.

Following the presentations, engage in a dynamic panel discussion with all speakers, where you can pose questions and discuss key points. Wrap up the evening with food and networking opportunities, allowing you to connect and share experiences with fellow attendees.

We will also be hosting a workshop on Thursday, May 27th from 16:00-19:30 focused on FAIR data principles using dbt and Databricks. This is a great opportunity to put your learnings into practice. Sign up here!

Speakers

Lea Sommer (Freelance Consultant and Founder, FindingFAIR)

Lea has worked with biotech and life science data for 10+ years, starting in the labs of the University of Copenhagen (the State Serum Institute), and later at the University Hospital of Copenhagen and the Technical University of Denmark. At the DTU, Center for Biosustainability, her journey into FAIR data began as a Research Data Manager in 2019. From this point, implementation of FAIR data in academia and industry has been her main focus, along with a strong belief that FAIR initiatives need to be grounded in the behaviours and daily routines of the people who produce and (re-)use data. In this event, Lea offers a holistic perspective on FAIR principles and their implementation.

Matt Livesey (Engineering & Analytics Lead, ADC Consulting)

Matt has 20 years experience designing and implementing data systems across industries including Financial Services, Life Science, and Telecoms. Through practices such as architecture, data management and data-as-a-product, he has enabled organisations to take control of and get value from their data. These practices are key to enabling turning FAIR into reality. In this event, Matt brings a consulting angle to the discussion and shares insights on practical implementations.

Ding He (Research Data Steward, DTU Biosustain)

Ding holds a PhD in Systematic Biology from Uppsala University and has extensive experience in data stewardship, product ownership, bioinformatics, and research data management within academic and research environments. He is currently the Research Data Steward at the DTU Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability, where he leads the implementation of the FAIR Data Catalog and promotes data literacy among stakeholders. In this event, Ding delivers an academic viewpoint on the challenges and opportunities of FAIR data.
